In-Game Leaderboard System & Patches
This update introduces the new Leaderboards, major fixes for game crashes and memory leaks, several Blade Warrior and Void Weapon balance changes, and improvements to Nation War, Hau, Infestation, and PvE content. It also includes numerous bug fixes, quality-of-life improvements, improved drop rates, and expanded customizable hotkeys.
General Changes
- Localization changes.
- Fixed an issue that could cause the launcher to time out.
- Fixed an issue where players inside a Frozenland Instance when Nation War started could not see Nation War players or damage Nation War monsters.
- Removed the IP limit from the Hau Event, as the event system already ensures that registrations and participation are unique.
- Match Event and Boss Spawn Event bosses now use the same minimap icon system as Instances. Hovering over a boss icon will now display the boss's name.
- Fixed a visual issue that could cause multiple characters in the Party Interface to appear with the same name.
- Character Locked, Account Locked, and non-locked items can now be combined when purchasing or converting items:
- If any Character Locked item is used, the resulting item will be Character Locked, regardless of the other items used.
- If an Account Locked item is used without a Character Locked item, the resulting item will be Account Locked.
- If only non-locked items are used, the resulting item will remain non-locked.
- Nation War and the Hau Event now take place on Channel 3 for both Season and non-Season events. As a result:
- Season Characters can no longer participate in non-Season Nation War or Hau Events.
- Players can register from any channel and will automatically be registered for the correct Season or non-Season event.
- Once an event begins, players will only receive messages related to their own event. Season and non-Season event messages will no longer overlap.
- Players who appear below the ground during the Coliseum Event will now automatically be teleported above ground.
- PvP Mode, Account Lock, Advanced Skills, and the Pet Interface can now be assigned or changed through the Hotkeys Interface.
Infestation Activity
- The chat updates for the Infestation Activity have been updated to have its own interface.
- Players now lose 10 points when they quit (previously they lost half their points).
PvE Changes
- Bracket 5 Islands now have a 20% rate to drop Dilithium Ore (previously 15%).
- Bracket 2 and 3 Turfs now have a 20% rate to drop Clonium Liquid & Beryllium Ore (previously 15%).
- Pet Island now has a 20% rate to drop Clonium Liquid (level 299-) and 15% rate to drop Beryllium Ore (level 300+).
- Catastropha Island & Pet Island respawn times are now set to 35 seconds.
- Catastropha Cavern monsters now have 10% less health.
Balance Changes
- Blade Warriors
- Orc Blood now lasts 15 seconds and has a 5 second cooldown.
- Stone Feet cooldown has been reduced from 7 seconds to 5 seconds.
- Void Sword now applies its slow effect at a rate of 3%, 8%, 15% for G1, G2, and G3's.
- Shield Exchange magic defense reduction has been reduced from -5% to -3% at level 10, and it also now grants up to a 5% move speed increase that stacks with Orc Blood.
- Void Weapons
- Based on player feedback, we've been reviewing Void Weapons and identified two issues that were causing their stats to scale incorrectly. Both issues have now been corrected:
- Void Weapon stat rewards were not scaling upward at higher levels in the same way as other equipment.
- Void Weapon Optional Damage was not scaling correctly in relation to their primary damage.
- Prior to Season 5, each point of Attack Power gained from a stat provided a corresponding amount of Optional Damage. With the Season 5 changes, Void Weapons were instead gaining disproportionately more Optional Damage compared to Attack Power. This has been corrected so their stat progression scales as intended.
- We may make further changes to Void Weapons based on player feedback after this change.
- Based on player feedback, we've been reviewing Void Weapons and identified two issues that were causing their stats to scale incorrectly. Both issues have now been corrected:
Game Crashes & Memory Leaks
Since the start of Season 5, we've been investigating a series of unusual game crashes reported by players. We've now identified the primary cause as several pre-existing Unreal Engine 2.5 memory leaks that became significantly more noticeable after the FPS limit was removed. These memory leaks have always existed, but the previous low FPS limit greatly reduced how quickly they accumulated. As a result, most players would only encounter a related crash after remaining logged in for several days, or after several hours of particularly heavy activity.
Removing the FPS limit significantly increased the rate at which these memory leaks accumulated, causing some players to experience crashes after only a few hours of game play. We are also investigating whether the increasing memory usage may have contributed to FPS gradually decreasing during longer play sessions. This update includes extensive changes intended to resolve the majority of the larger memory leaks we've identified. Because these fixes required significant changes to older parts of the game engine, there is a possibility that additional issues may appear as a result.
If you experience any unusual behavior or crashes following this update, please report them to us so we can investigate and address any remaining issues.
Leaderboards
- The Leaderboards are finally here! Compete for a place among the top 50 players across several leaderboard categories:
- PK Ranking: Player, class, character type, and PK Points.
- Level Ranking: Player, class, character type, level, and the UTC date and time that level was reached.
- Coliseum Ranking: Player, class, character type, Kill/Death Ratio, and Win/Loss Ratio. Ratios include both a percentage and the underlying totals.
- Infestation Ranking: Player, class, character type, activity completion date and time in UTC, and highest Total Points.
- In a later update, we will be trying to add existing Season 5 log data to the system in-order to provide accurate data prior to the launch of the leaderboards.
Use the Class and Character Type filters to generate rankings for the players you want to compare. Character Types include Season and Non-Season characters, and multiple options can be selected. - During an active season, leaderboards initially show Season characters by default.
- Rankings refresh every hour on the hour, with the latest update time displayed in the interface.
- Open or close Leaderboards with Ctrl+Alt+L, through the game menu, or assign your preferred combination in the customizable Hotkeys interface.
