Upgrading

When you upgrade an item, you are increasing the level of one of its stats. There are a few things you should know before you start upgrading your items.

1. If an upgrade fails the both the gem and the item will break.
2. Items have safe levels, where an item's stat can be upgraded without fail. As the overall item level goes up, this safe level also goes up.
3. Even when you fail and break an item you still get some Gem Shards back!

Upgrading Jewelry & Level 1-10 Equipment

In order to upgrade a stat on a necklace, bracelet/band, ring, or any level 1-10 item you must use one of the following 4 gems:

Gem Name	Gem Icon	Description
Jr Sephiroth Gem		Like Sephiroth Gems, but has a lower success rate and lower safe level. For Level 12-13 Items it can only be used to upgrade stat levels up to 5.
Sephiroth Gem		Tries to upgrade a random stat on the item.
Sephiroth Choice Gem		Allows the user to pick which stat is upgraded.
Supreme Sephiroth Gem		Like Sephiroth Gems, but if the upgrade fails the item will not break. (Max Stat Level: 8 for G10 and below, 14 for G12 and above)
Supreme Sephiroth Choice Gem		Like Sephiroth Choice Gems, but if the upgrade fails the item will not break. (Max Stat Level: 8 for G10 and below, 14 for G12 and above)
Fantastic Sephiroth Gem		Like Sephiroth Gems, but if the upgrade fails the item will not break (No Stat Level Limit)
Fantastic Sephiroth Choice Gem		Like Sephiroth Choice Gems, but if the upgrade fails the item will not break (No Stat Level Limit)

Upgrading Level 11 Equipment
Level 11 items can be upgraded through the use of 1 of 6 gems:

Gem Name	Gem Icon	Description
Jr Blue Tear		Like Blue Tears, but has a lower success rate and a lower safe level.
Jr Red Honor		Like Red Honors, but has a lower success rate and a lower safe level.
Blue Tear		These gems can only be used to upgrade level 11 weapons.
Red Honor		These gems can only be used to upgrade level 11 equipment, not including weapons.
Supreme Blue Tear		Like Blue Tears , but if the upgrade fails the equipment item will not break. (Max Blessing level for use: 9)
Supreme Red Honor		Like Red Honors, but if the upgrade fails the equipment item will not break. (Max Blessing level for use: 8)
Fantastic Blue Tear		Like Blue Tears, but if the upgrade fails the weapon will not break. (No Level Limit)
Fantastic Red Honor		Like Red Honors, but if the upgrade fails the weapon will not break. (No Level Limit)
Fantastic Limit Breaker		A Gem that increases the maximum times you can use a Fantastic Gem on an item by 1.

Upgrading Level 13 Equipment

Past Stat level 5, you need to use Clonium Gems and Clonium Choice gems to upgrade level 12 and 13 equipment.

Fantastic Clonium Gem		Like Clonium Gems, but if the upgrade fails the equipment item will not break. (No Level Limit)
Supreme Clonium Choice Gem		Like Clonium Choice Gems, but if the upgrade fails the equipment item will not break. (Max level for use: 14)
Fantastic Clonium Choice Gem		Like Clonium Choice Gems, but if the upgrade fails the equipment item will not break. (No Level Limit)

Upgrading Earrings

Earrings can only be upgraded by using an Aquamarine Gem on the earring. They can also only be upgraded once every 30 minutes (15 minutes for Season Characters). Finally, if the upgrade fails, while upgrading an earring, don't worry about it! The earring will not break; you will simply lose the Aquamarine Gem.

Gem Shards & Supreme Gems

When you break an item due to upgrading, you are awarded Gem Shards from the gem you used to upgrade the item. The amount of Gem Shards you gain is equal to the level of the stat point that was being upgraded. Once you have 500 of the same Gem Shard you can combine these shards into a Supreme Gem.

Supreme Gems work like their normal counterparts, they have the same upgrade rates. However, if the gem fails to upgrade the item, only the gem will be lost. In other words, it protects your item!

Supreme Gems do NOT work on specialty equipment (Anything that is .5 in level, such as Eonic Weapons & Clergy/Sephiroth Gowns) or reforged item stats.
